“ L’aereo del Monte Orfano "The air of Mount Orphan
08.09.1944
tutti quanti in paese hanno sentito raccontare dal nonno oppure dal papà di quell’aereo caduto sul Monte Orfano durante la guerra, everyone in the country have heard tell from the father or grandfather of that plane crashed on Mount Orphan during the war,
ma dopo 70 anni non si sapeva ancora nulla di quanto accadde esattamente quel giorno dell’ 8 settembre 1944. but after 70 years do not yet know nothing of what exactly happened that day of 'September 8 1944.
They were the years in which the advanced Anglo American began to lick the north and Australia are beginning to suffer the inconvenience and fear of the first bombing and machine guns allies on the lines of communication, to "strangle" the supply and procurement of the army German still present on our territory.

In our airports Ghedi, Bettola to Lonato and Orio al Serio Bergamo groups of German fighter planes were ready to intervene to prevent attacks from the high altitude bombers acting on all the primary objectives across the Po valley. In addition to these aircraft, for Ghedi and Orio al Serio were deployed reconnaissance of the Luftwaffe, the German aircraft, that were operating from these airports to the south of Italy, France el'Adriatico.
The day 08.09.1944 a Junkers 188 twin-engine aircraft of 122 ° Aufklarungsgruppe (group reconnaissance) with GP F6 brand takes off from Orio al Serio around 10.00 per head for Ghedi and then begin a reconnaissance flight in late evening.
The weather is cloudy but without fog, conditions which are not afraid to harp pilots, equipped with the most advanced radar system mounted on aircraft, advanced for the era, the FUG200.
One of the two engines began to have trouble feeding el'aereo, full of fuel, barely maneuver.
It was decided then to override the Monte Orphan and make un'atterraggio emergency in the countryside south of Rovato, to Chiari.
The maneuver fails el'aereo crashed on the north side of the mountain, just 10 meters below the ridge near the lake.
Nessuno dei quattro componenti dell’equipaggio verrà risparmiato dall’orribile fine : l’equipaggio None of the four crew members will be spared dall'orribile end: the crew

Before they can speak the local authorities, many rovatesi can recover a lot of scrap aluminum as well as a strange unknown material at the plexiglass.
Witnesses recall of the market rings worked at a lathe finger of many girls rovatesi, a fashion of the moment!
Speak on the day after technicians 122 ° to undermine the engines to make them unusable by potential enemies.
The first track to conduct this research, in addition to interrogate witnesses rovatesi, finds reading a diary written by a Swiss employee in a Bottonificio during the war where there is recorded the exact date. On that date, with the help of internet dating is a site that is the English departments Reconnaissance 122 ° and you can identify the number and the name of comandante.Da this, with the help of German Military Cemetery Dismay, it all goes back to the crew.

Unfortunately, the German state archives have not provided us with the aid required and therefore do not have at present no photos of the crew or the plane F6 GP.
Ma quale fu la causa dell’incidente??? But what was the result of the accident?
From the archives of the department are killed 4 planes of that type in a few days, fell for technical reasons only, all four new and first to enter into service.
With the help of the scholar Nick Beale, it was discovered that the new Jumo 213 engine has changed with more fuel octane performance in relation to engines used in aircraft earlier Ju 88 and then the first flights with the older fuel stored in tanks at the airport, led to this disaster.
Witnesses recall that before the crash the plane had two engines out of laps with a noise that recalled the sound of scrap.
The reliefs on the site were made with the help of cercametalli who found several fragments of the plane, with the ability to reconstruct even coloring.
The search was made difficult by the abandonment of our woods and brambles on the rise. Recall that the Monte Orphan at the time of the accident, had no vegetation and appeared as a mountain semirocciosa completely bare.
The search still continues in the hope of being able to track down other direct witnesses, find original photographs and artefacts Vetrinetta to put into the museum which will be held here at the headquarters of the Alpini Rovato.
We are confident that, in some basement or attic of Rovato, there are still finds the plane and we would like to be able to see and photograph.

For fans of Aeronautics and sfracelli connected, point out that at the library C. Cantu of Rovato is a beautiful giant photograph hung on another aircraft crashed, with other photographs of the model in question.

return the plane fell on Nazi monteorfano; as a child I was repeatedly shown another drop site, other than that indicated; collapse of the site known to me was on the side of Maryport, say halfway between genuisi and the convent, perhaps closer to the convent, I will not insist on this version, but what impressed me was because I was been in place for more than a walk.

Hello all, the "foo" was not an airplane German, but English, or rather "ally"
It could be a Mosquito, or A20 do not know exactly, however, the nickname was affibiato a twin-engine aircraft that night was intended to terrorize the civilian population ... and we could ... Congratulations to Mr. Diego Vezzoli and his team, these stories should also take into schools, because young people today, if they infischiano than that have passed their parents, grandparents and those who suffered or died so that now, these young people live in peace.
A former aviere.

Mr Moro and all others, please please agree 1) whether it was a plane English or German and 2) where both fell, thanks.
Why, if there is a very vague about the thrust as it seems, there is surprising the disaffection of the young towards a story that seems remote but is not because it is our present.

it is unlikely that there was only one Pippo, could not "appear" in Brescia, Milan in Ravenna and maybe more. it is easier that there were more planes with this type of assignment.
maybe someone can take the trouble to make a historical research at the military aircraft and finally understand not only how many were, but also who was behind Pippo, What was the true purpose of these raids.

Dear Mr. Vezzoli, I read with great attention to his article
and despite my passion for everything that dates back to World War II, unfortunately I have to disagree on its findings
about the crash on Mount Orphan and his alleged
discovery of finds of this plane.
Photographs by watching I do not think there can be real finds
of the alleged air "but arruginiti pieces of any kind that have nothing to do with the military aircraft of that time.
In any case, given my interest in everything that flies, I would be grateful if you could watch live these "relics" and also the area of
findings.
Its appearance on my e-mail address aereoplanaitaliana (at) free (dot) com.
Thanks in advance for its availability
I offer my most sincere and warmest greetings.

I apologize for not having yet responded to all posts.
Pippo was un'aereo British reconnaissance and bombing by night, often in action on our time zones in the evening / night.
Grapeshot and bombed targets random lit during the reconnaissance, for what the lights went off.
An exemplary contraerea was shot down by a German Ghedi Quinzano d'Oglio, the two dead pilots. Even the Americans had their Pippo, the P61 Black Widow. Even here it was one in Fontanella felled Grazioli (CR).
For Zagor: there is accuracy in this search, the plane of the mountain but Pippo was not a German JU 188D2, read the research, not only the posts of others!
For moscacocchiera: Plane impact on the north side of the mountain, but several pieces including two pilots actually ended on the south in the courtyard of the house.
BY MARIA: the pieces that I have found aluminum aircraft, even showing traces of original paint and dunkelgrunn hellblau Luftwaffe, plexiglass and parts of the engine, perfectly identical to other pieces of 188 found in prov. BG and AL.
The pieces are viewable at the headquarters of a mountain Rovato, in a showcase, but if you do not believe I accompany us.
I'm not an improvised as you think, but now I do this second job for some time, researchers working with historical aircraft in Italy and abroad. In addition all'ACPO, collaborate with the group Romagna Air Finders, even if it is to ask my credentials. THE ENOUGH? Thank you
October 4th, 2008 at 11:11 a.m. pm
clarification: the Pippo poteve be in the De Havilland Mosquito or the Bristol Beaufighter, both British.
October 4th, 2008 at 11:14 PM
For AB: there were in flight over a Pippo every night and the mission was reconnaissance and bombing night light or targets of randomness.
